Our last show was Friday March 6th at Caveat. Featuring Joanna Briley, Gina Brown, Lisa Haas, Janice Maffei, Tulis McCall, Carole Montgomery, and Eryca Nolan.
Gina Nicole Brown has appeared in films such as Preparatory, Hysterium, Nothing But Love, and others. Winner of BuzzFeed’s 2019 Mother’s Day project, Black Moms Try Other Moms’ Soul Food, cooking is one of her passions. Her book Teeth Should Not Be Optional: Random Thoughts from an Insomniac is available on Amazon.
Joanna Briley created the Black Women in Comedy Festival, a four day event first held in 2019 in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. This new annual festival was a call to action for black women who are hilariously talented yet overlooked by the industry to get the recognition they deserve.
Lisa Haas portrays Maggie in Wild Nights with Emily just released on VOD. She will appear this spring in the series Search Party on HBOMax and Dinette on BRIC-TV. Lisa was also the lead in the Sundance-premiered feature comedies Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same and The Foxy Merkins.
Janice Maffei is a founder of VisionFirst who took up storytelling after turning fifty. Her work has appeared on NY stages and been published in literary journals. She leads Reclaim Plan A workshops, helping women resurrect their buried dreams.
Tulis McCall recently appeared in How We Love/F*ck at the Cherry Lane Theatre, and her solo show, All In The Timing, is being produced locally and regionally. Tulis is the recipient of three UNITED SOLO™ Awards and she’s the host of Monologues and Madness.
Carole Montgomery is the creator of Showtims’s Funny Women of Certain Age. She is a veteran of the standup comedy scene with over two dozen television credits to her name. Carole has headlined clubs & colleges across the USA, and has starred in two different Las Vegas production shows.
Eryca Nolan is a divorced mom turned comedian currently residing in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts. She is the host and producer of Project HERlarious, a female centric comedy show currently running at the Albany and Hartford Funny Bone comedy clubs.
